The CEP Mindset Podcast

Nov 8, 2019

Matt Marquardt had a rocky transition from minor midget to junior hockey, but the lessons he learned in these years helped him go from not being selected in the OHL draft, to being drafted to the NHL, putting up back to back 40 goal seasons in the QMHL, and going on to his successful 12 year pro career - which is still ongoing!

In this podcast, Matt shares his story and sheds light on many important mental skills that every player needs to make the jump from minor to junior hockey, and from junior to pro hockey! We dive into the importance of off-ice training, patiently preparing for your opportunities, treating practices like games, and understanding how junior and pro hockey is a business.

Leadership has also been a big part of Matt’s career. He learned important lessons from his coach Ted Nolan. Matt’s won championships, been a team captain on numerous teams, and a player-coach all at the pro level! He shares his insights on creating a winning team culture, getting players to think the same way, and fostering confidence as a team.
